Discover where artistry and expertise meet with a personalized approach to help you achieve your desired profile.

Many of us have complicated relationships with our noses or profile. One common concern that many individuals face as they age is the development of nasolabial folds, also known as smile lines or laugh lines, that extend from the sides of the nose to the corners of the mouth, becoming more prominent over time due to a loss of skin elasticity and volume. Many others are unhappy with the shape of their nose or experience difficulty breathing properly.

At Wenzel Facial Plastic Surgery, we can address a wide range of concerns, including reshaping the nose, correcting asymmetry, improving breathing function, and enhancing overall facial aesthetics. Certified in both otolaryngology (ENT) and facial plastic surgery, Dr. Wenzel is highly sought after for facial plastic surgery in western North Carolina, including custom-tailored rhinoplasty procedures. His comprehensive understanding of the nose from a functional and cosmetic perspective sets him apart as a leading specialist in rhinoplasty.

Whether you seek a more proportionate nose or wish to smooth away those bothersome nasolabial folds, Dr. Wenzel will personalize the procedure to your specific needs and goals. With our emphasis on natural-looking results and patient satisfaction, you can trust that our team will work closely with you throughout the process to ensure your comfort and peace of mind. Rhinoplasty

WHAT IT IS

Rhinoplasty is a transformative surgery designed to reshape or resize the nose. This procedure is often chosen by individuals who wish to enhance the balance of their facial features, correct issues resulting from injury or congenital disabilities, or improve nasal breathing. Rhinoplasty can involve several modifications, including altering the size of the nose, reshaping the bridge or tip, narrowing the nostrils, or changing the angle between the nose and the upper lip. It is a highly customizable procedure tailored to the patient’s unique facial anatomy and personal aesthetic goals.

Rhinoplasty is recognized as one of the most intricate cosmetic procedures, requiring a deep understanding of the nose’s aesthetics and function. Certified in otolaryngology (ENT) and facial plastic surgery, Dr. Wenzel brings over two decades of experience enhancing nasal function and aesthetics. His comprehensive understanding of the nose from both a functional and cosmetic perspective sets him apart as a leading rhinoplasty specialist in Western North Carolina. His extensive experience and commitment to patient satisfaction ensure that patients are in the most capable hands for their rhinoplasty procedure.

HOW IT WORKS

The rhinoplasty procedure begins with a detailed consultation where we discuss your aesthetic goals, evaluate your nasal structure, and create a tailored surgical plan. Rhinoplasty can be performed either through a closed procedure, where incisions are hidden inside the nose, or an open procedure, where an incision is made across the narrow strip of tissue that separates the nostrils.

Depending on specific needs, Dr. Wenzel will carefully reshape the nose’s bone and cartilage structure, addressing any aesthetic or functional concerns. This could involve reducing the nose’s overall size, refining the tip’s shape, straightening the bridge, or opening up nasal passages to improve breathing. Once the desired shape is achieved, the skin is re-draped over the new framework, and the incisions are closed. Despite the complexity of the procedure, Dr. Wenzel’s 20 years of experience in improving breathing concerns and performing facial plastic surgery makes him highly qualified to do specialized rhinoplasty surgery. Injectable Filler for Nasolabial Folds

WHAT IT IS

Deep nasolabial folds and “marionette lines,” which often extend from the corners of the mouth to the nose and chin, are excellently addressed with fillers, as these areas may not see significant improvement with a facelift alone. Alongside fillers, our experienced team, led by Dr. Wenzel, may recommend complementary treatments such as laser therapies, chemical peels, or dermabrasion to refine the skin’s surface and target fine wrinkles.

Options we offer:

  • Revance® RHA® Dermal Fillers
  • JUVÉDERM® Collection of Fillers
  • RESTYLANE® Line of Fillers
  • Sculptra® Filler
  • Radiesse® Family of Dermal Fillers

HOW IT WORKS

We specialize in using injectable fillers as a modern, minimally invasive approach to facial rejuvenation around the nose and nasolabial folds. This treatment utilizes injectable substances, commonly made from hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance in the body that helps maintain skin plumpness and hydration. When carefully and strategically injected into specific areas of the cheeks, these fillers can add volume, smooth out wrinkles, and enhance the overall facial contours for six months to two years with little-to-no downtime. FAQS

Frequently Asked Questions

Injectable Fillers for Nasolabial Folds: The longevity of injectable fillers depends on the type of filler used and individual factors like your body’s metabolic rate. Typically, results can last from 6 months up to 2 years.

Rhinoplasty: The results of rhinoplasty are permanent. The changes should last a lifetime once the nose has healed from the surgical procedure. However, it’s important to note that the natural aging process can still affect the nose’s appearance over time, potentially leading to subtle changes.

The initial recovery period for rhinoplasty is typically 1-2 weeks, during which you may experience swelling and bruising. Most patients feel comfortable returning to work or school after this period. However, subtle changes in nasal shape can continue for up to a year as the healing progresses.

Our team provides each patient with comprehensive post-operative care instructions and support to ensure a smooth recovery.

Dr. Wenzel is highly skilled in placing incisions in discreet locations to minimize visible scarring. Over time, these scars typically fade and become less noticeable.

The extent of scarring largely depends on the specific type of rhinoplasty performed. In a “closed” rhinoplasty, all incisions are made inside the nostrils, which means there is no visible scarring. However, for an “open” rhinoplasty, an additional small incision is made on the columella, the narrow strip of tissue that separates the nostrils. This incision typically heals very well and, in time, becomes barely noticeable to the naked eye.

The ideal candidate for rhinoplasty is physically healthy, has completed their facial growth (usually by age 16 for girls and slightly later for boys), and has specific, realistic goals in mind for improving their nose. Candidates may seek rhinoplasty to address various concerns, including a nose that they feel is too large or small compared to other facial features, has a bump on the nasal bridge, is too wide or too narrow, or is crooked or off-center.

Importantly, good candidates for rhinoplasty also understand that while the procedure can enhance their facial features and self-confidence, it is not about achieving perfection. Our team is committed to working with each patient to deliver results that align with their aesthetic goals while respecting their unique features.
